For trainees who have transitioned from the old certification pathways:
Please note that reflections will only generate for training procedures entered into JETS since 30 September 2022, when they were introduced as part of our new certification pathways. Trainees who transitioned from the old pathways are not expected to complete reflections retrospectively. In recognition of the fact that these trainees will not have generated the requisite number of reflections over their total lifetime procedure count, the JAG office will apply a reflection bypass on any outstanding reflection requirements once the trainee has met all other KPI requirements. Nevertheless, the trainee will need to ensure that any reflections generated since their transition to the new pathway have been completed.
The reflection bypass can only be applied on the condition that (a) all other KPIs on the specified pathway have been met and (b) any reflections generated since transitioning to the new pathway have been signed off by a trainer. To request a reflection bypass, please contact the JAG office once you have fulfilled both conditions.
How do reflections generate?
Reflections will only become available after you log your first 50 training procedures through the new training pathway. Subsequently, they will continue to automatically generate for every 50 procedures logged. Please note that independent procedures will not count towards generating reflections.
Once your first 50 procedures have been entered, the system will automatically generate your first reflection, and you will now be able to access your Reflections page through the 'Actions' menu. This will also appear as an action on your dashboard, and can also be accessed through your Portfolio.
The reflection will display the KPIs for your previous 50 procedures and ask you to answer questions regarding the data and your progress.
Upon opening the reflection, you will see a brief overview of the 50 procedures.
You can then select the ‘Reflection’ tab at the top, where you will be able to answer two questions regarding the procedures, add a personal development plan and get your trainer to sign off the reflection.
All questions must be answered before you can save the reflection and have it signed off.
You will then need to add another 50 procedures before the next reflection becomes available.
