Lay assessors represent the views of patients and review documents that are usually sent to patients and look at the hospital from the patient’s perspective.
Your assessment administrator will request that you send a patient information pack for the lay assessor to review before the assessment. This should include anything you would normally send a patient attending for a colonoscopy. This may include:
- Letters and patient information about the procedure/service
- Any bowel prep instructions or other information given to patients at their outpatient appointment (please do not send bowel prep though)
- Directions to the hospital and unit
- Any other special instructions
Please send the patient pack via email to your assessment administrator. You will find their email on your assessment page. If your assessment administrator has not yet been assigned to you, please email it in to AskJAG@rcp.ac.uk.
Note on patient information: you will need to ensure that any documentation sent does not include any patient identifiable information. Please remove any patient information completely; covering information with a sticky label or black pen does not sufficiently obscure data.
