If a service doesn’t have accreditation then any mobile units would be assessed as part of the standard assessment process. Services should ensure that they make the assessment team aware of the mobile unit, and that all evidence (such as the operational policy and the decontamination policy) covers the unit.
If a service already has accreditation then the mobile unit would need to be assessed during a triggered assessment. This is when one assessor will visit the mobile unit to check that it is compliant against the JAG standards and to follow the patient and endoscope pathway. There may be additional cost to this as this sits outside the normal accreditation pathway.
