JAG understand completing your certification pathway may have been hindered by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We acknowledge there are not enough basic skills course places to meet the demand even with significant efforts from training centres. Therefore, we have developed the basic skills course derogation process. Full details can be found in the explanatory document.
The basic skills course derogation provides an alternative route for trainees to meet the basic skills course certification requirement, other than attending the course.
The aim is that trainees should do the basic skills course where possible, but to support trainees who are close to completion of or have completed all elements of their training except for a basic skills course. This provides a route for them to progress when a course place is not available, but to maintain a level of quality assurance.
The expectation is that learners will seek to complete a basic skills course where applicable. Courses will be advertised on JETS as soon as possible. For any additional information, please contact training centres directly to enquire about Basic Skills courses again.
Training centre contact details can be found on the JETS website (https://www.jets.thejag.org.uk/Default.aspx) under the 'Training Centres' tab.
