What is JAG's guidance on completing the IHEEM and IPS audits?

IHEEM audit

• If there is a delay to being able to undertake the audit then the service should indicate this and the reasons in their annual review / accreditation assessment, including when the audit is booked for.
• Services may be asked to send evidence via email and have virtual meetings with the AED to aid completion of the audit. The audit should be clearly annotated on how it was completed (if not the usual site visit).
• The AED must carry out the audit and this should not be completed by endoscopy staff or on the AED’s behalf.
• The audit must be signed by the AED and provided in PDF format.
• If there are recommendations the service should have a separate action plan which indicates progress and timelines to addressing these recommendations.

IPS audit

• The IPS audit is now freely available for JAG registered services. There are two versions, one for the endoscopy environment and another for the decontamination environment. Both audit tools are available on our resources page.
