Competencies and subcompetencies
Competencies (e.g., 1.1 - Professional Values) are composed of a number of sub-competencies (1.1.1 - Comply with the NMC Code), which need to be evidenced. Sub-competencies are the general skills and behaviours that are required to be able to complete a particular competency.
Can I use the same piece of evidence for multiple sub-competencies?
Yes, you can use the same piece of evidence for more than one sub-competency.
For example, to meet competency '1.1 Professional Values and Interpersonal Effectiveness', the following sub-competencies need to be met and supported with evidence:
A single piece of evidence uploaded may demonstrate several of these sub-competencies. To assign evidence, click on the text next to the red crosses (which indicate no evidence has yet been assigned) on the right-hand column.
Why can't I assign my evidence to a sub-competency?
Your evidence needs to be signed off by your supervisor before you can assign it to a sub-competency. If you select the ‘Evidence’ tab you will be able to view whether your evidence has been signed off or not.
