The NED data will have an open application process for anyone to apply to access NED data. The process will be managed by a newly formed JAG research committee. This group is chaired by Dr James East who is a Consultant Gastroenterologist.
The first step will be completion of a pro-forma to explain what data is required, why it is wanted and who will be in project team. It should be noted that the details of this are yet to be defined as NED data will only become meaningful once we have progressed further in terms of implementation. This will be finalised in due course. Details of this will be made available on www.thejag.org.uk.
In terms of requirements for a successful application, the key factors will be around purpose of research, ability to complete research and meeting basic ethics requirements. It is likely we will also insist that someone with knowledge of database will be part of project team to reduce risk of the data being misunderstood. We are very keen to have an open process and that all applications would be considered.
