If you have evidenced 40 or more colonoscopy procedures on JETS in the preceding 12 months from the new pathway launch date, you can request to be moved onto the old version of the pathway. In this case, you will be given 12 months from the date the new pathway launched to complete your application on the old version of the pathway.
If you do not complete your application by this date, you will need to apply through the new colonoscopy pathway, should you still wish to apply for certification.
You can check if you meet this requirement from your 'portfolio' page in JETS:
You must then go to the pdf summary tab:
Change the dates to 12 months before the pathway launched, not 12 months before you contacted the JAG office and the 'type' dropdown to 'lower':
Once the pdf is generated, you will be able to see if the 'colonoscopy' count over this period is 40 or higher. This is the same check the JAG office would do when a candidate contacts to remain on the old version of the pathway, so please ensure all of your training activities are recorded on JETS before you contact about this.
How this was decided:
The JAG office completed a data extract of all candidates who applied for paediatric certification over the period of 12 months (prior to the data extract). This showed applicants averaged 60 procedures in the preceding 12 months (mean: 60.5, median: 59, mode: 59).
On the old version of the pathway, minimum lifetime procedure count is 100.
Therefore ‘lifetime procedure count’ – ‘procedures in last year’ = 40.
The aim being for all existing candidates to either be certified on the old version of the pathway within 12 months from launch date, or to move to the new version.
