You have 2 attempts to pass the BCSA DOPS exam within one calendar year. If a candidate does not meet the criteria in their first assessment, they are eligible for one more attempt in the 12-month period, with two alternative assessors.
If they fail to meet the criteria in their second attempt, they cannot reapply until 12 months after the date of the first attempt and will be required to reapply for the programme in full, resitting both the MCQ and DOPS assessment (regardless of their previous attempts).
We would recommend that you make use of the assessment feedback form and DOPS accumulation document to guide your next steps, perhaps consulting colleagues for further self-reflection. We also recommend that you consider participating in a preparation for bowel cancer screening accreditation course, which is specifically aimed at assisting and preparing candidates for the assessment.
During DOPS assessment retakes, both the internal and external assessors must be different from those who led the first DOPS assessment.
