Accredited endoscopy services should only outsource activity (whereby a patient is sent to another service/site to receive their endoscopy) to other accredited organisations . This is to ensure that patients always receive the same high standards of quality care irrespective of their provider or setting.
Endoscopy services using insourcing (whereby a patient is seen by an external endoscopist or team in the same facilities as the service) must adhere to the insourcing checklist, which will be assessed during an accreditation assessment or an annual review.
Endoscopy services should report any change to their outsourcing and insourcing position to JAG at any point during the year, and will be asked about their outsourcing and insourcing position during their annual review.
